Honor and remember the concert

The Brevard community group pays tribute to the victims of 9/11 and the group’s founding conductor at Merritt Island High School on Sunday, September 12 at 3:00 p.m., “Remember the Past and Predict the Future.” A school auditorium located on the 100 Mustang Away from the North Court Na Parkway.

The performance features a selection of favorite music by the late Marion McCarrell, who founded community group Breverd in 1985.

Under the direction of conductor Scott, all volunteer groups have benefited from 35 years of music production. This group is a past recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sadler Silver Scroll Award for Musical Excellence and Cultural Leadership.

The musicians anticipate the future with new conductor Robin Kessler, who was the commander of the Army Reserve Military Band and the Ohio Army National Guard. Kessler ended his military career in the Honor Guard and retired in 2016 as a 5th Warrant Officer after 42 years of service as the National Guard Deputy Senior Bandmaster.

Music by composer John Williams will be presented along with a selection of film scores and famous and patriotic works. Concert participants are advised to wear face masks in the auditorium, regardless of their immunization status, for the safety and health of clients and musicians.

Parkfest Sunday at Green Gables

The Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village are 1501S from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 12. The Sunday in the Park Art Festival will be held at the historic Melbourne Estate on Harbor City Boulevard.

The free festival features and sells a variety of media from local artists. Food trucks and music are also part of the deal.

The Green Gables will also host the Harvest Festival, Craft Fair and Resale Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday September 25. Once again, food trucks are coming, with vendors selling raffles, baked goods, handmade crafts, and unique resale items.

Breakfast at the Warbird Museum

The Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum will be hosting a monthly “Airplane / Drive Breakfast” from 8am to 10am on Saturday September 11th. Most of the dishes prepared by the chef serve a full breakfast. Admission is $ 12 for adults and $ 5 for children under 5. The ticket also includes a visit to the museum.

Napanite at the green turtle market

Volunteers needed for food packaging events

The Children’s Hunger Project invites family, friends and groups to food packaging events to help children at risk of going hungry on weekends.

Only a 2 hour commitment is required. Most packing events take place at the organization’s offices, 1855 W. King St., Cocoa and Cocoa Hyundai dealerships.

8 years and older can participate in the packaging.

Do not attend to anyone who has come in contact with or is living with someone infected with Covid-19, who is symptomatic, or who is not self-isolating in these cases. A mask is mandatory if you have children under 12 years old.

Cocoa Beach Oil Painting Class

The Cocoa Beach Studio at 165 Minuteman Causeway, in downtown Cocoa Beach, is hosting the Painting with Oilson Canvas class on Saturday, September 25, from 3pm to 5pm.

The instructor is Delia Swenson, a seasoned painter and experienced teacher. Students over 14 will learn the basics of canvas oiling. Draw with the brushes and paints of professional artists and bring back the works of art that you proudly display.
