WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The 2022 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics kicks off in Wisconsin Rapids on February 4-5 at Ridges Golf Course. Freezin’ for a Reason is presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and also celebrates the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics Wisconsin this year.
There are four options to take the plunge; The first and usually the most popular is the in-person plunge into the icy waters for five Saturdays at eight locations across the state.
The Wisconsin Rapids Polar Plunge will include the Super Plunge, Cool Schools Plunge, Toss Your Boss Plunge and Too Chicken to Plunge events, as well as a snowshoe run and walk and live music, 50/50 raffle, concessions and souvenirs.
Those who choose not to participate in an in-person Polar Plunge® can create their own “Chillin’ at Home” adventure. Divers can do this DIY virtual dive whenever and however they want. Students can form teams, host competitions, and have fun in the spirit of inclusion by taking the plunge or hanging out virtually through the “Cool Schools” option. Finally, the “Support a Plunger” campaign allows fans to support other Polar Plunge® participants while making a difference in the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities (ID).
Funds raised help nearly 9,000 SOWI athletes statewide train and compete nationally, nationally and internationally and support health and wellness programs throughout the year. year.
