While summer is definitely ideal for fruit lovers, the season can be quite sweltering with its extreme heat and humidity, especially in Bangladesh. While many netizens might get poetic about the season’s long days, fragrant air, and hot nights, the bounties are definitely balanced with things like heat waves and blazing sunshine.

With such unforgiving weather, what can you do to let off steam and regulate your body temperature?

If you’re not shy about spending some of your time outside of Dhaka, these activities might just be for you!

Here are our top water activities to do this summer:

Surfing

Being one of the most iconic summer water sports, surfing has been growing in popularity in Bangladesh for several years. If you’ve never surfed before, Cox’s Bazar Surf Club is the place for you offering lessons to learn the basics as well as 3 star accommodation options! Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’ll start early in the morning and end the afternoon with cooler waves.

For those who enjoy lazy late afternoons in the summer, kayaking might just be the thing for you! It is another relatively easy and low impact water sport that is suitable for both children and adults. A kayak is a small, narrow watercraft that can accommodate one or two people and can be maneuvered using a two-bladed paddle. It’s great for exploring the calm waters of Lake Kaptai and other abundant bodies of water in the country. Kaptai Kayaking Club not only offers kayaking activities, but also offers camping grounds for its guests!

Waterfall Hunts

There’s nothing quite like getting drenched by the splashes of waterfalls. With torrential rains during the monsoon, you can see the full glory of the waterfalls in the summer. Taking a trip to chase waterfalls in places like Sylhet, Sitkunda or Bandarban not only rejuvenates creativity but would also be the perfect activity to pursue in the summer.

If getting out of town isn’t an option, you can get creative in your garden or on your roof!

Order some squirt guns from Daraz or buy from any traveling vendor. Get some friends and family members. Form two teams and play battle royale! On your marks, get set and start shooting your opposing team until they are completely soaked!

Tip: Try playing near a pool for surprise attacks and quick reloads.

Sponge throw

Cut inexpensive sponges into strips and use rubber bands to hold them together, forming a ball. Dip them and throw them at your friends or siblings with all the force and precision at your disposal! Make it a war of soaked sponges!

Water balloon throw

Water balloons are sort of the original water game. Fill water balloons and use your surroundings or unsuspecting friends to practice target practice. It can be very satisfying! Luckily, there are now water balloon kits that come with DIY pumpers in online stores as well as Daraz. From throwing, smashing, popping and dancing, water balloons can provide hours of fun!
