Nathan Exelby’s Tips: Best Bets & Doomben Quaddie

Despite heavy weight, Wapiti will be tough to beat on a wet track at Doomben, says Queensland racing expert Nathan Exelby.

Sky Racing and Brisbane Racing Club turf expert Nathan Exelby reviews Saturday’s meeting at Doomben.

Track: Heavy 9. Rail: + 2m.

BEST PARIS

Ashgrove, R3 # 3 – $ 2.60

I relished the pace the last time and put his rivals at the edge of the sword with a great final section of 600m. Better opposition this time around, but it looks above average.

Wapiti, R6 # 3 – $ 3.20

Did a good job coming back to 1600m to win last time around and now comes back to 2000m, where he was so effective at Toowoomba. He is a very good wet tracker and a proven weight carrier. Difficult to pass.

Zoustyle, R9 n ° 5 – $ 2.40

Dry the tracksuits and he seems to control that from the start. No worries to go to 1200m and its high cruising speed will make most of them run far.

MONEY SPEAKS

Race 3: Ashgrove $ 3 – $ 2.60

Race 5: way too easy $ 5 to $ 3.70, Jackson On Time $ 17 to $ 10

Race 6: So you win $ 5.50 – $ 4.40, Wapiti $ 3.50 – $ 3.20

Race 7: The Harrovian, Course 7, $ 4.80 to $ 4.40

Race 8: Wandabaa $ 4.20 – $ 3.60, Juan Diva $ 11 – $ 8.50

Race 9: Zoustyle $ 2.50 – $ 2.40, Shooting For Gold $ 9 – $ 5.50

Race 10: Stellar Magic $ 8.50 to $ 7, Najmaty $ 16 to $ 12

THE QUADDIE

R7: RECOGNITION ISSUES (1350m)

Harrovian’s ($ 4.40) win at this course last year was close to a career best and we know he’s very good fresh, and handles wet ground, so he’s got it all. him here. The only minus is the gate, but he’s got the right jock to make up for that. Ballistic Boy ($ 10) is the one who looks over the odds. He’s a stranger in the real wet, so the track improvement is a plus and he’s been trying hard to beat House Harrovian recently. Morethannumberun ($ 5) is the wild card. He ran the Stakes class sections in two Gold Coast wins, then maybe needed the race last time around. I suspect he’s up to it. Tambo’s Mate and Niccanova are hopes but lead to others.

Selections: 3 The Harrovian, 4 Ballistic Boy, 12 Morethannumberone

R8: EUREKA STUD CLASSIC (1200m)

Wandabaa ($ 3.60) has the form lines, wet track credentials, and the right weight, but she has 15 runs since a win and will be back in the ruck here, so I’m looking elsewhere. I think Miami Fleiss ($ 5.50) is the best horse in this race and just hope the right speed of the race gets him in somewhere. Tycoon Evie ($ 14) was a great second and can see her get the right run here – if she’s facing the soft ground. Juan Diva ($ 8.50) was a big winner in Sydney two starts back and then did well in a high stakes race at Flemington. Eloquently ($ 8.50) claims a victory over Miami Fleiss on this track and the loss on the Poly track can be forgiven.

Selections: 7 Miami Fleiss, 6 Tycoon Evie, 15 Juan Diva, 11 Eloquently

R9: GEORGE MOORE PILES (1200m)

Zoustyle ($ 2.40) showed he hasn’t lost any of his abilities with the scintillating first victory on the Sunshine Coast. I have no problem with him on soft ground and if Weona Smartone comes out it means he will control this as he pleases. Baller ($ 5.50) gets a gun trail and scores a good first round when Stable warns he might be short on time. Signore Fox ($ 15) ran well in two Group 1 races here during the Stradbroke season and can run strong here again. Shooting For Gold ($ 5.50) comes next to the top, but he’s not sure he can give a start and take down the fanciest ones ahead of him. The wet track looks like Alligator Blood ($ 18).

Selections: 5 Zoustyle, 4 Baller, 2 Signore Fox

Race 10: CHALLENGES MODE (1200m)

Rhapsody Rose ($ 3.60) is the winner, but she’ll need a good trick from Ryan Maloney. They took the wide barrier out of the equation on the last start by lowering the handlebars to 1400m, but they’re not sure it has the speed to do the same over 1200m. Maybe being wide won’t be a problem at this point? With that in mind, we put Me Me Lagarde ($ 4.80) in mind. She should have beaten Rhapsody Rose in a stakes race at this course in May. She will be in better shape again for the first victory here. Najmaty ($ 12) has disappointed a few times but it’s a drop in class for her. Stellar Magic ($ 7) the second best.

Selections: 6 Me Me Lagarde, 2 Rhapsody Rose, 5 Najmaty, 4 Stellar Magic

FAR FROM HOME

WINSUM (Pakenham, Race 4, $ 4) has finished first in the 1000m in his last two preparations and finds a suitable race to make it three more straight wins here. Good speed up front and he can hit the line with force. At Rosehill, SHIHONKA (race 1, $ 2.30) brings top marks to her rivals in this race and can do three out of four for preparation.
