Luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet opens a hotel in Switzerland

The watch-themed hotel also offers tours of the Atelier Audemars Piguet museum

Minimalist interiors are also influenced by the environment — think light fixtures inspired by large rock formations in the valley — with locally sourced raw materials, mostly stone and wood, dominating the design and decor.

The glued laminated beams used to construct the building are spruce from sustainably harvested forests in the Vallée de Joux, while reclaimed white beech trees form the walls and ceilings.

More than 70% of the ingredients used in the hotel’s brasserie, restaurant and bar – all run by three-star chef Emmanuel Renaut – are also sourced locally – in a region dense with farmland and vineyards, the choice is considerable.

The spa also offers 100% Swiss made Alpeor products made from plants and flowers from the Vallée de Joux and Valais, and has a hammam, a sensory shower and a relaxation lounge with a panoramic view of the forests.

Each with floor-to-ceiling windows, the 50 rooms and suites also offer stunning views of the Risoud forest, feature the latest technology including ceiling speakers, smart TVs and Nespresso machines, while the suites have cellars in the room.

In a nod to the brand’s high-end watchmaking heritage, the hotel has a library of books devoted to the history and craftsmanship of watchmaking, and offers its guests tours and watchmaking packages, including visits to nearby manufacturers like Jaeger-LeCouture, as well as the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet, the Espace Horloger and the AstroVal observatory.

The Hôtel des Horlogers is located just 80 km north of Geneva.
