Kratos joke costumes are some of the most powerful skins in God of War

Kratos’ default clothes have gone through multiple evolutions in the God of the war series. The simple loincloth he wears in the Greek kingdoms became a fur-lined outfit in the Nordic lands. His preference for light clothing allows him to operate with maximum efficiency, but since Kratos is a god whose strength, stamina, and healing factor allow him to survive almost any mortal wound, protection is not. not one of her clothing priorities. What he looks at are the clothes that offer him the most mobility and flexibility.

Despite his preference for minimalism, Kratos isn’t against dressing up once in a while. He donned many sets of armor and outfits throughout the God of the war series – most of which provide him with some sort of perk to help him on his adventures. While a good number of these looks tend to be bulky and resemble the protection used by ancient warriors, Kratos has more humorous outfits with some very interesting effects.

Kratos’ joke outfits are a series tradition

The origins of Kratos’ joke costumes can be traced back to the original God of the war in 2005. By completing the Challenge of the Gods – a gauntlet of varied challenges that tests players’ wits and strength – they can unlock bonus costumes for Kratos. Most of these costumes are humorous in nature. The Dairy Bastard costume, for example, puts Kratos in a full cow costume with rubber udders. His Chaos Blades are also replaced with Milk Jugs, which he throws using the same moves. Complete the Challenge of the Gods by God of the war (2005) also rewards players with Tycoonius – who puts Kratos in a business suit and gives him suitcases instead of blades; Bubbles – a swim suit for Kratos complete with tan lines, swim shorts, and a pair of fish blades; and Chef of War – a self-proclaimed costume that swaps weapons with frying pans.

Joke costumes have made periodic appearances in God of the war sequels and prequels, but they haven’t been in every game. Most of Kratos’ joke costumes can be found in God of the war games on the PlayStation Portable. Spud of War and Mime of War – outfits that allow Kratos to don a potato costume and mime clothes respectively – can be unlocked in God of War: Chains of Olympus. Likewise, a version of Kratos made from cardboard boxes, vent pipes, and tape called “Robotos” can be acquired in God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

On the console side, Kratos’ most famous joke costumes have to be his Cod of War outfit. The suit debuted in god of war 2, stuffing Kratos into a fishy outfit and swapping his Athena Blades with a pair of fish hooks. Cod of War also returns in 2018 God of the waronly instead of a fish costume, the outfit is armor that players can craft in New Game Plus (both god of war 2 and 2018 God of the war were made by Cory Barlog).

Every joke has a punchline

While Kratos’ joke outfits are fun to look at, each also provides him with special buffs. The Dairy Bastard suit grants Kratos infinite magic and doubles the value of any orbs he acquires, but it also halves the amount of damage he deals. Cod of War armor in 2018 doubles the number of buffs, allowing Kratos to generate a burst of Freeze and Burn damage when stepping on a Healthstone or Ragestone. The Cod of War Underbelly-guard grants Kratos temporary invincibility when activating a Healthstone or Ragestone, and the Cod of War Fin-wraps allow Healthstones to grant Rage and Ragestones to grant Rage. Health whenever Kratos bars are full.

If players can look past their silly appearances, the series’ joke outfits offer some of the best perks. Besides these benefits, joke outfits also shed a humorous light on an otherwise dark and unforgiving world. Considering how far too serious Kratos is in most cases, players might prefer outfitting him in silly costumes to lighten the mood. Making Kratos make funny faces is one of the main reasons players love God of the warPhoto mode, and these costumes help take the humor to another level. Santa Monica Studio may have already completed the design God of War: Ragnarokbut hopefully the game will inject some humor into it through some joke outfits.

God of War: Ragnarok is set to release on November 9, 2022 on PS4 and PS5.
